Area of parallelogram=bXh

(To find b divide 10 cm into 2 as per the question)

So,

B=5 cm

H=2 cm

5X2=10 cm^2

Hence area of the parallelogram =10 cm^2

Area of the parallelogram is 10 cm² If the parallel sides of a parallelogram are 2 cm apart and their sum is 10 cm

Given:

  • Parallel sides of parallelogram are 2 cm apart
  • Sum of these parallel Sides is 10 cm

To Find:

  • Area of the parallelogram

Solution:

  • Opposite sides of parallelogram are equal
  • Area of a parallelogram = Base x Height

Step 1 :

Assume Base of the parallelogram = x cm

Step 2 :

Equate sum of sides to 10 cm and solve for x:

x + x = 10

=> 2x = 10

=> x = 5

Step 3 :

Use formula for area of a parallelogram and substitute base = 5 cm and height = 2 cm

Area = base * height

=> Area = 5 * 2

=> Area = 10 cm²

Area of the parallelogram is 10 cm² If the parallel sides of a parallelogram are 2 cm apart and their sum is 10 cm
