Given :

Percentage error

  • Radius = 2 %
  • Height = 3 %

To find :

  • Percentage error in volume .

Solution :

Volume of a cylinder is given by ,

  • V = π r ² h

here ,

  • V = volume
  • r = radius
  • h = height

Error in volume is given by ,

⇒ ΔV / V = 2 Δr / r + Δh / h

⇒ ΔV / V = 2 x 2 / 100 + 3 / 100

⇒ ΔV / V = 4 + 3 / 100

⇒ ΔV / V = 7 / 100

⇒ ΔV / V = 0.07

Percentage error

⇒ ΔV / V = 0.07 x 100

⇒ ΔV / V = 7 %

The percentage error in volume of the cylinder is 7 %.
