Answer:

We assume the width to be W and length to be L. Hence Perimeter = W + W + L + L = 56 cm. Perimeter = W + W + 3W + 3W = 56 when W = 56/8 = 7 cm. Hence L= 3 x 7 = 21 cm.

Perimeter of rectangle = 56 cm.

L+B = 56/2 = 28 cm.

L = 3B, so 3B+B = 4B = 28 cm.

Or B = 28/4 = 7 cm and so L = 21 cm.

The rectangle is 21 cm x 7 cm. Answer.
