Answer:

Let the length of the rectange os x m. The breadth of the rectangle be (x−16)m.

Now we have

Perimeter of the rectangle =56m

⇒ 2(length+breadth)=56

⇒ 2x+(x−16)=56

⇒ 2(2x−16)=56

⇒ 4x−32=56+32

⇒ 4x=56+32

⇒ 4x=88

⇒ x=

4

88

=22m

∴ the length of the rectangle =22m and the breadth of the rectangle =(x−16)m

=(22−16)m

=6m

Hence, the length and breadth of the rectangle are 22m and 6m respectively.

perimeter of rectangle = 2( l + b)

16 = 2 ( l + b )

16/2 = l+ b

l+ b = 8

perimeter = 2 ( l+b )

16 = 2 ( 5+ b )

16 / 2 = 5+ b

8 = 5+ b

b = 8-5 = 3
