➼ Question ➼

If the perimeter o a rectangle is 35 cm and its length and breadth are in the ratio 3:2. Find the length and the breadth of the rectangle.

Given,

The perimeter equals to 35 cm.

Now,

Let the length be 3x and breadth be 2x.

Thus,

2 (3x + 2x) = 35

2 × 5x = 35

10x = 35

x = 35 ÷ 10

x = 3.5

Verification,

LHS = 2 (3x + 2x)

= 2 (3 × 3.5 + 2 × 3.5)

= 2 (10.5 + 7)

= 2 × 17.5

= 35

RHS = 35

LHS = RHS hence, verified.

Therefore,

Length = (3x) cm

= (3 × 3.5) cm

= 10.5 cm

Breadth = (2x) cm

= (2 × 3.5) cm

= 7 cm
