if the perimeter of a rectangle is 60 cm and the width is half the length of the rectangle,what is the length of the rectangle?

sonikammu96: given:- 2(1/2L+l ) =60

60/2=1/2 L + L

30 = 2L+L /2

30×2 = 3L

60 = 3L

60/3 =L

30 =L (ans.)

ANSWER

10 cm

STEP BY STEP

Let length = let length = 2 x

and breadth x

perimeter of rectangle = 2 (1 + b )

60 = 2 (2x+x)

60 / 2 = 3x

30/3 = x

10=x

1=2x10=20 cm

b = 10 cm

thank you

\sf\huge\bold{Solution}

Given

Perimeter of Rectangle is 60cm.

Width/breadth is half of length

To Find

Length of the Rectangle

Let the length of the rectangle be 'x' cm

Given that breadth/width is half the length of the rectangle so , breadth will be \bold{\dfrac{x}{2}}cm

Perimeter of Rectangle is 60cm

Perimeter of Rectangle=2(length+breadth)

 \sf \longmapsto 60 = 2\bigg(x +  \dfrac{x}{2}\bigg )

 \sf \longmapsto 60 = 2\bigg( \dfrac{2x + x}{2}\bigg )

 \sf \longmapsto 60 = 2\bigg( \dfrac{3x}{2} \bigg)

 \sf \longmapsto 30 =  \dfrac{3x}{2}

 \sf \longmapsto 3x = 60

 \sf \longmapsto \bold{x = 20}

Now ,we find the length of the Rectangle is 20cm

Breadth of Rectangle is \sf \dfrac{x}{2}  =  \dfrac{20}{2}  = 10

Length=20cm

Breadth =10cm

Check

 \sf \longmapsto 2(length + breadth)

 \sf \longmapsto 2(20 + 10) = 2 \times 30 = 60
