Given

\bold{Perimeter \ of \ the \ rectangle} = 70 \ m

SOMETHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Area of the rectangle = Length * Breadth
  • Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

\implies 2(x+y)=70\\\implies x+y=35--(1)

\bold{Length \ is \ 5m \ more \ than \ the \ breadth}

Let the length and breadth of the rectangle be x and y respectively.

\implies x=y+5\\\implies x-y=5--(2)

Solving (1) and (2), we get,

x+y=35\\\underline{x-y=5}\\\underline{\underline{2x=40}}\\\implies x=20

\implies y = 15

\boxed{\boxed{\bold{Therefore, \ the \ length \ and \ the \ breadth \ of \ the \rectangle \ are \ 20 m \ and \ 5m \ respectively}}}}}
