if the perimeter of a rectangular plot is 68m and length of its diagonal is 26 m ,find its area

vishal7744: Perimeter = P = 2L + 2W = 68
so L + W = 34, or
W = 34 - L.
The diagonal is 26, and so by the Pythagorean Theorem,

By direct substituion,

This means L = 24, or L =10. Since we usually take the longer value value to be the length, L = 24, and from this W = 10.

perimeter = 2(x + y) \\ where \: x \: is \: length \: and \:  y \: is \: breadth \\ 2(x + y) = 68 \\ x + y = 34
length \: of \: diagonal =   \sqrt{ {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2} }  \\   {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  = 676 \\  {(x + y)}^{2}  - 2xy = 576 \\  {34}^{2}  - 2xy = 576 \\ 480 = 2xy \\ xy = 240
