Perimeter of square = 4 × side

Given, Perimeter = 4y+12

Side = (4y+12)/4

= (y+3 ) m

If a diagonal is drawn then we find a triangle is formed so by Pythagoras theorem we can find the hypotenuse.

base²+height²=diagonal ²

(y+3)²+(y+3)²= diagonal²

diagonal²=2(y+3)²

diagonal = √2 (y+3) m

Thus, the diagonal's length will be _/2 (y+3) m
