If length of sides of triangle are a, b and c then

Perimeter = a + b + c

c = Perimeter - (a + b)
= 5x + 6 - [(x + 3) + (2x + 6)]
= 5x + 6 - [3x + 9]
= 2x - 3

∴ Length of third side is (2x - 3) cm

Perimeter of the triangle = Sum of its sides.

Given sides= x + 3, 2x +6

Perimeter = 5x + 6

Third side = Perimeter - Sum of two sides

= 5x+ 6 - ( x + 3+2x +6)

= 5x + 6 -(3x+ 9)

= 5x + 6 -3x -9

= 2x -3

Therefore, the third side is 2x -3
