If the pitcher plant photosynthesises then why do they feed on insects?

the pitcher plant eat animal because he does not have the rizobium bacteria .

The pitcher plant grows in nitrogen deficient soil. It carries out photosynthesis through its petioles but requires insects for nitrogen.
