yes in if I were you Gerrad was more intelligent than the intruder . He had a presence of mind as he remained calm in such a life threatening condition . He did not panic as he thought that if he will panic then the intruder would not wait and he would kill Gerrad .Gerrad also had a good sense of humor as he made fun of the intruder all the time.
the intruder was again and again saying that he was top of the class but at the end Gerrad tricked the intruder that he was also a criminal and he was expecting trouble at night. so intruder agreed and at the end The INTRUDER WAS IN THE CUPBOARD
