During fertilization secondary nucleus and one male gamete unite to formed triploid endosperm.

Hence. if cell of nucellus is 6n .

then secondary nucleus is also 6n (3n+3n).

male gamete is haploid hence it is 3n.(Plant is 6n)

Hence 6n+3n = 9n endosperm.

Hence if the ploidy number of endosperm is 9n, then 6n will be the ploidy of nucellus.
