Concept:

If a point lies on a line then the coordinates of the point will satisfy the equation of line. In simple words, there will be no change in the linear equation if we put x, y as coordinates of points respectively.

Given:

The x coordinate of point = ( 4 - b )

The y coordinate of point = b

The equation of the line = ( 7x - 5y = 4 )

The point lie on the line.

Find:

Value of b.

Solution:

According to the above given concept, the coordinates of point satisfies the equation of line as the point lies on the line.

So, put x =  ( 4 - b ) and y = b in the equation of line

7x - 5y = 4

7 ( 4 - b ) - 5b = 4

28 - 7b - 5b = 4

28 - 4 = 12b

24 = 12b

b = 24/12

b = 2

Hence, we the value of b came out to be 2 after solving.
