If the point P (k , 0) divides the line segment joining the points A(2, -2 ) and B( -7, 4) in the ratio 1 : 2, then what is the value of k ?​

So the x-coord difference of the dividing point  9/3 = 3  

y-coord difference of the dividing point  6/3 = 2  

Hence the Coords of the dividing point would be (2-3, -2+2)= (-1,0)

So the value of k = -1
