if the points -1,-2 p,q and 4,0 are collinear, prove that 2p-5q=8.

Answer:

Point are:

(-1,-2) , (p,q), and (4,0)

Since they are collinear , area of triangle formed is equal to 0.

 =  >  \frac{1}{2} (- 1(q - 0) + p(0 - ( - 2)) + 4(( - 2) - q) = 0

 =  >  \frac{1}{2} ( - q + 2p  - 8 - 4q) = 0

 =  >  2p - 5q - 8 = 0

 =  > 2q - 5p = 8

Hence, proved.
