If the polynomial 2 x cube + x square + 3 x minus 5 and x cube + x square - 4 x + a is a same reminder when divided by x minus 2 find the value of a

Answer:

 {2x}^{3}  +  {x}^{2}  + 3x  - 5 \: and \:  {x}^{3}  +  {x}^{2}  - 4x  + a \: has \: same \:remainder \\ therefore \: both \: are \: equal

now, x - 2 = 0

=> x = 2

Insert these in following

=>2(2)^3 + (2)^2 + 3(2) - 5 = (2)^3 + (2)^2 - 4(2) + a

=>16 + 4 + 6 - 5 = 8 + 4 - 8 + a

=>26 - 5 = 4 + a

=>21 - 4 = a

=>17 = a

=> a = 17
