Answer:

a = -1 and b = -2

Step-by-step explanation:

Let p(x) = x^3+2x^2+ax+b

(x+1) and (x-1) are the factors of p(x).

∴ (-1) and 1 are the zeroes of p(x)

p(-1) = (-1)^3+2(-1)^2+a(-1)+b

      =(-1)+2-a+b=0

      =1-a+b=0

      = -a+b=-1--------->(i)

p(1) = (1)^3+2(1)^2+a(1)+b

     = 1+2+a+b=0

     = 3+a+b=0

     = a+b=-3 --------->(ii)

Solving equation (i) and (ii), we get,

b= -2 and a= -1.

Hope this helps :)
