Step-by-step explanation:

Given polynomial ,

p(x) = 2x^3 + ax^2 +3x-5

and , f(x)= x^3+x^2-4x+a

Using remainder theorem ,

p(2)= f(2)

→2(2)^3 + 4a +6-5= (2)^3+(2)^2-8+a

→16 + 4a +1= 8+4-8+a

→3a = 4-16-1= -13

→ a= -13/3
