if the polynomials ax^3 + 3x^2 - 13 and 5x^3 - 8x + a leaves the same remainder when divided by x + 1, then find the value of a.

If a polynomial f(x) is divided by x+a, remainder is given by f(-a).
Given,
a×(-1)^3 + 3×(-1)^2 - 13 = 5×(-1)^3 - 8×-1 + a
2a = -13
a = -6.5
