= -13.6÷4

= -3.4 eV

This is the sum of 3.4eV(Kinetic energy) and -6.8eV(Potential energy)

Since potential energy in the first excited state is to be zero, a +6.8eV is added to the total energy ie all enrgy levels must be added with +6.8eV

Thus total energy in ground state becomes -13.6 + 6.8 = -6.8eV
