Present Age of A=40 years

Present Age of B=60 years

Let 'X' years ago Their Age was in Ratio 3:5

As

Ratio was in Past ages

So we will Subtract X from both present age.

A age was=40-x years

B age was=60-x years

Now Their Age is Equavalent to Ratio=3:5

Means

A age Then:B age Then=3:5

40-x:60-x=3:5

 \frac{40 - x}{60 - x}  =  \frac{3}{5}  \\  \\ 5(40 - x) = 3(60 - x) \\  \\ 200 - 5x = 180 - 3x \\  \\ - 5x + 3x = 180 - 200 \\  \\  - 2x =  - 20 \\  \\ x =   \cancel{\frac{ - 20}{  - 2} } \\  \\ x = 10

X=10

So 10 years ago Their ages was in Ratio 3:5
