Let :
- Initial pressure of gas ( P₁ ) = P
- Initial Volume of gas ( V₁ ) = V
Given :
- Number of mole = 1 mole
- Pressure is reduced to (1/4) of original pressure
- Note - As we are not given any information about temperature we will assume that temperature remain constant.
To find :
Final volume of gas
Solution :
According to Boyle's law , Pressure of gas is inversely proportional to the volume of gas when temperature is constant
P ∝ (1/V)
Now , according to question,
- P₁ = P
- P₂ = (1/4) P₁ = (1/4)P
- V₁ = V
Putting these values in above equation
➝ Volume of pressure became 4 times the original
ANSWER :
4 times the original
