If the price of a pen is discounted by 40%, for 120 you can buy 4 more pens than you could buy at the original price. How many pens could be bought for 120 at the original price?

=120/x(0.60)

And x+4 units of pen can be bought for Rs. 120,

Therefore,  120/x(0.60)(x+4)=120

(0.60)(x+4)=x

0.60x+2.4=x

2.4=(0.4)x

x=2.4/0.4

x=6

so the original price of pen is Rs. 6 and 120/6=20 pens could be bought for Rs 120 at original price.
