Let probability of winning the race be p Probability of losing the race = 1 - p According to the statement of question, we have

p = 2 (1 - p) - 1 / 6

⇒ 6p = 12-12p -1

⇒ 18p = 11

⇒ p = 11 / 18

Hence, probability of winning the race is 11 / 18
