Answer:

0.5^6

Step-by-step explanation:

Probability target won't destroyed = 1-0.5 = 0.5

Probability for first five attempts = 0.5^5

Probability for 6th attempt = 0.5^6

Given : the probability that a target is destroyed on any one shot is 0.5.

To Find : the probability that it would be destroyed on 6th attempt

Solution:

probability that a target is destroyed on any one shot  is 0.5

probability that target not destroyed =  1 - 0.5 = 0.5

destroyed on 6th attempt means not destroyed in 1st 5 attempts

and destroyed on 6th attempt

probability that it would be destroyed on 6th attempt  = (0.5)⁵(0.5)

= (0.5)⁶

= (1/2)⁶

= 1/64

= 0.015625
