I don't know if I do a very good job of explaining my answers on here. My honor

Split 70 in half.

70÷2=35

2 because we must find 2 numbers… which added together makes 70.

35+35= 70, easy. 1 issue, they need to be even numbers. And not just any even numbers… 68+2, 50+20, 26+44, etc.

Consecutive even numbers, so they have to be as close to 70÷2 as possible.

34 and 36.

Answer:

The smaller number is 34.5.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Let us take the smaller number as x.
  • So, the bigger number will be (x + 1).

Considering these 2 numbers, the following equation forms:

x + (x + 1) = 70

⇒ 2x + 1 = 70

⇒ 2x = 69

⇒ x = 69/2

⇒ x = 34.5

⇒ x + 1 = 34.5 +1

⇒ x + 1 = 35.5

Verifying our answer:

34.5 + 35.5 = 70

L.H.S = R.H.S

Hence, the answer is correct.

Hope it helps!
