Maximum value of a function is understood by differentiating it.
So p(x)=41+24x-18x^2
⇒p'(x)=0 i.e 24-36x=0
⇒p''(x)<0 i.e -36<0 implies there is local maxima
⇒x=24/36=2/3
So maximum profit is p(2/3) = 49
