Given: pth term of AP is 7p+1

To Find:  first term of AP

Solution:

Arithmetic sequence : Sequence of terms in which difference between one term and the next is a constant.

This is also called Arithmetic Progression AP

Arithmetic sequence can be represented in the form :

a, a + d  , a + 2d , …………………………, a + (n-1)d

a = First term

d = common difference = aₙ-aₙ₋₁

nth term =  aₙ =  a + (n-1)d

pth term of AP   is 7p+1

To find first term just substitute

p = 1

Hence first term is  7(1) + 1   = 8

First term of the AP is  8

Additional Info:

AP is

8 , 15 , 22 , ...

Common difference  = 7
