we know that D= b^2 -4ac

comparing the given equation with general form

a= 3 , b= -5, c= 2k

D= 25 - 24k

comapring both the values of D

0 = 25 -24k
-25 = -24k
25/24 = k

comparing eq. with 'ax square + bx + c =0'
a =3, b =5, c = 2k
roots r equal
therefore discriminant = 0
b square - 4ac = 0
(5 ×5) - 4×3×2k = 0
25-24k = 0
25 = 24k
k = 25/24
