Hi ,
compare x² + 4x + k = 0 with ax² + bx + c = 0
a = 1 , b = 4 , c = k
it is given that roots are distinct and real ,
discreaminant ≥ 0
b² - 4ac ≥ 0
4² - 4 × 1 × k ≥ 0
- 4k ≥ - 16
4k ≤ 16
k ≤ 16/4
k ≤ 4
I hope this helps you.
