Given,

the radius of the earth, R = 6400 km

mass of the object, m = 50 kg

height above the sea level, h = 6400 km

To find,

The weight 'w' of the object at height h.

Solution,

R = 6400 km = 6400×10^{3} m

Weight of any object = mass of the object × gravity at that place

                                   = m×g

∴Weight 'w' of the object at height h = m×g_{h}  ____ (1)

where,

g_{h} = gravity at height h

g_{h} = g(R/R+h)^{2} ____ (2)

From (1) and (2),

w = mg(R/R+h)^{2}

putting all the values,

  w = 50X 9.8(6400/6400+6400)^{2}

⇒w= 50×9.8×1/4

w= 123.75 N

∴ The weight of the body at the height 6400km above the earth's surface will be 123.75 N
