Here, P be the principal amount

According to the question,

An interest of two-fifth of the principle = \frac{2}{5}P

Formula,

Simple interest =\frac{PTR}{100}

Substitute the above values in the formula, we get

\frac{2}{5}P=\frac{P\times 8\times T}{100}

\frac{2\times100}{8\times5}=T

T=5

Therefore, the time period is 5 years.
