Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

the ratio of ages(in years)of x and y,8 years ago is 7:6,

To find:-

what will be their sum of ages after 8 years from now.

Solution:

the ratio of ages(in years)of x and y,8 years ago is 7:6

The ratio=7:6

Let age of x =7a

and age of y=6a

after 8 years ago their ages 7a+8+8 =7a+16 and 6a+8+8=6a+16

Sum of their ages=7a+16+6a+16=13a+32

Here we get 13a+32=13a+26+6

=>(13a+13×2)+6

=>13(a+2)+6

It means the sum of their ages is multiple of 13 which leaves remainder 6

putting a=1,2,3... we get

if a=1 ,13(1+2)+6=39+6=45

if a=2,13(2+2)+6=52+6=58

If a=3,13(3+2)+6=65+6=71

If a=4,13(4+2)+6=78+6=84

if a=5, 13(5+2)+6=91+6=97

if a=6, 13(6+2)+6=104+6=120...

Answer:-

The answer for this question is depends upon the given options

The answers may be like 45,58,71,84,97,120 years....
