Let the two friend be 4x & 3x
According to question,
4x+3x= 70
=7x= 70= x= 70\7= 10
now older friend 4x= 4×10= 40
answer is older friend age 40.

The age of older friend = 28 years

Given:

If the ratio of ages of two friends = 4 : 3

Sum of their ages = 70 years

To find:

What is the age of older friend

Solution:

Let 4x and 3x are be the ages of two friends

[ since they are in 4 : 3 ratio ]

Then sum of their age = 4x + 3x = 7x

From given data sum their ages = 70 years

⇒   7x  = 70 years

⇒     x  = 70/10 = 7 years

The value of x = 7

Then age of elder friend = 4x = 4(7) = 28 years

The age of older friend = 28 years
