I max /l min = (a1+a2/a1-a2)^2

By using this formula

U will get the answer 9:1

The ratio of maximum and minimum intensity shall be 9:1

  • Intensity of wave is directly proportional to square of amplitude.
  • Let the amplitudes be a_{1}  and     a_{2}
  • The ratio of amplitudes = 2:1

                                     a_{1}  :    a_{2} = 2:1

  • The ratio of maximum intensity to minimum intensity is given by

                   \frac{I_{max} }{I_{min} }  =( \frac{a_{1}+a_{2}  }{a_{1} - a_{2} }) ^{2}

                           = (\frac{2+1}{2-1} )^{2}

                           = 9/1

                           = 9:1
