complement of x = 90 - x
supplement of y = 180 - y
their ratio = 1:2
so 90 - x / 180 - y = 1/2
or 2 * (90 - x) = 1 * (180 - y)
or 180 - 2x = 180 - y
or 2x = y
or x/y = 1/2
so x:y = 1:2

Answer:

If the ratio of complement of x and supplement of y is 1:2,then the ratio of x and y is x : y = 1 : 2

Step-by-step explanation:

  • complement of x = 90 - x
  • supplement of y = 180 - y
  • given, Ratio of complement of x and supplement of y is 1:2.

   Hence, we can write , (90 - x): (180 - y) = 1:2

   \frac{(90-x)}{(180-y)} = \frac{1}{2}

⇒ 2×(90 - x) = (180 - y)

⇒ 180 - 2x = 180 - y

  • by cancelling 180 from both side, we can write,

   -2x = -y

⇒ 2x = y

⇒ x/y = 1/2

   so, x : y = 1 : 2

  • Complementary Angles

When the sum of two angles is 90°, then the angles are called

    complementary angles.

    Hence, Complementary angle of x is (90 - x).

  • Supplementary Angles

When the sum of two angles is 180°, then the angles are called

    supplementary angles.

    Hence, Supplementary angle of x is (180 - x).
