Loss percentage is about 16.67 % if  the ratio of the cost price of an article to its selling price is 6:5 .

Given:

ratio of the cost price of an article to its selling price is 6:5

To Find:

Loss percentage

Solution:

Step 1:

Assume that:

Cost Price = 6x

Selling Price = 5x

Step 2:

As cost price is more than selling price hence there would be loss.

Subtract Selling price from cost price to get loss

Loss = Cost Price - Selling Price

Step 3:

Substitute the values of cost price and Selling price

Loss = 6x - 5x = x

Step 4:

Calculate the loss % on cost price

Loss % = (x/6x) * 100  ≈ 16.67 %

Loss percentage is about 16.67 % if  the ratio of the cost price of an article to its selling price is 6:5 .
