QUESTION:

if the ratio of the length to breadth of the rectangle 3:2 and the perimeter of the rectangle is 60cm find the area of rectangle.

Answer:

Area of rectangle = 216cm²

___________________

Step-by-step explanation:

given that,

in a rectengle,

ratio of the length and breadth = 3 : 2

so,

let the common ratio be x

so,

sides = 3x and 2x

so,

length(l) = 3x

breadth(b) = 2x

now ,

also given that,

the perimeter of the rectangle = 60cm

we know that,

perimeter of the rectangle = 2(l + b)

ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION

2(l + b) = 60

putting the value of length and breadth

2(3x + 2x) = 60

3x + 2x = 60/2

5x = 30

x = 30/5

x = 6

now,

given sides

length = 3x

= 3(6)

= 18 cm

breadth = 2x

= 2(6)

= 12 cm

length = 18 cm

breadth = 12 cm

now,

area of rectangle = length × breadth

= 18 cm × 12 cm

= 216 cm²

so,

___________________

Area of rectangle = 216cm²
