Hi there!!

Hope it helps you:-

Let the present ages of a and b be 5x and 7x years respectively

After 4 years their ages will be

A- 5x+4 years

B-7x+4 years

Now according to the question,

5x+4/7x+4=3/4

#after cross multiplication,

=4(5x+4)=3(7x+4)

=20x+16=21x+12

#transposing 20x to LHS and 12 to RHS their signs will be reversed

=16-12=21x-20x

=4=x

=x=4

Therefore the present age of A is 5*4=20 years and present age of B is 7*4=28 years
