GiVeN :-

  • Ratio of Sum and Difference of two numbers = 8:3

To FiNd :-

  • Ratio of the two numbers

SoLuTiOn :-

Let the larger number be x

And,

Smaller Number be y

Then,

  • Sum of two numbers = (x + y)

  • Difference of two numbers = (x - y)

Now,

  • Ratio of the sum and difference of two numbers = 8:3. ----(given)

So,

 \implies \:  \frac{(x + y)}{(x - y)}  =  \frac{8}{3}  \\  \\  \implies \: 3(x + y) = 8(x - y) \\  \\  \implies \: 3x + 3y = 8x - 8y \\  \\  \implies \: 8y + 3y = 8x - 3x \\  \\  \implies \: 11y = 5x \\  \\  \implies \:  \frac{x}{y}  =  \frac{11}{5}

Hence,

Ratio of two numbers is 11 : 5
