Solution

Given :-

  • If the ratio of two numbers is 9:5
  • then their sum is 224.

Find :-

  • Those Number

Explanation

Let,

  • First Number = x
  • Second Number = y

Case(1).

(If the ratio of two numbers is 9:5)

➡x : y = 9 : 5

➡x/y = 9/5

➡5x - 9y = 0_____________(1)

Case(2).

(then their sum is 224.)

➡x + y = 224___________(2)

Multiply by 5 in equ(2)

➡5x + 5y = 1120________(3)

Subtract equ(1) & equ(3)

➡-9y - 5y = - 1120

➡-14y = -1120

➡y = -1120/(-14)

➡y = 80

Keep value of y in equ(1)

➡5x - 9×80 = 0

➡5x = 720

➡x = 720/5

➡x = 144

Hence

  • Value of first number x = 144
  • Value of Second Number y = 80

Step-by-step explanation:

9x + 5x = 224

14x = 224

x = 224/14

x = 16

• 9x = 9*16

=144

• 5x = 5*16

=80

so, 144 and 80 are the two numbers
