Step-by-step explanation:

let x = 13a---------------------> 1

let y = 14a----------------------> 2

put the values of x and y in equation x + y = 81

13a + 14a = 81

27a = 81

a = 81/27

a = 3

putting value of a in 1 and 2

we get ,

x = 13×3 = 39

y = 14×3 = 42

now,

y - x = 42 - 39 = 3

3 is the answer
