If the reading on the odometer of a vehicle in the beginning of a trip and after 40 minutes were 1048km and 1096km respectively,calculate its average speed.Will the reading on the speedometer show this speed when the vehicle is moving?Support your answer with reason

final reading = 1048 Km

initial reading = 1096 Km

time taken = 40 minutes = [ 40 / 60 ] minutes = 2/3 hours

average speed = Total distance travelled / Total time taken

                         = Final reading - Initial reading / Total time taken

                         =  1096 Km - 1048 Km / [ 2 / 3 ] hr

                         = 48 Km / ( 2/3 hr)

                         = 48 Km × 3 / 2 hr

                         = 72 Km/hr

Reason :

No, the speedometer may or may not show this reading, because the vehicle can move at different speeds while transition and doesn't have a constant speed. But this is the average speed
