The Kinetic Energy (KE) of a body is given by KE=0.5mv^2.

Where m is the mass of the body and v is the velocity of the body.

Now new velocity u= v + (4/100)v = 1.04v

Therefore new kinetic energy E=(1/2)m(1.04v)^2 = 1.08KE (Approx.)

Change in KE = (1.08)KE - KE = 0.08KE.

Therefore Percentage increase in KE = ( (Change in KE)/(Original KE))x100%

which becomes 8%.

Thus a increasing the velocity by 4% increases the KE by approximately 8%.
