The equation of resistance,

R=ρ(l/a)

where,

R = resistance,

ρ = resistivity,

l = length

a =cross-sectional area.

suppose for Copper wire, R and ρ=(1.68E-8 (ohm m)) be resistance and resistivity

Similarly, for Nichrome wire let R’ and ρ’ =(130E-8 (ohm m)) be resistance and resistivity.

because the two wires are identical their length to cross sectional area is same. From given data for Copper wire, R=1 ohm. Then,

l/a=R/ρ = 1/(1.68E-8) / meter.

Using the above result for the Nichrome wire, we have,

R’=(130E-8)* (1/(1.68E-8) ) (ohm)

=77.381 ohms.

Therefore, the required resistance of Nichrome wire is 77.381 ohms.
