Since volume remains same

so,   A1L1 = A2L2  

 so , L1/L2 = A2/A1.  

 Since , R = ƥL/A,

since resistivity is materials property so,it remains same.  

 So, R1/R2 = L1A2/(L2A1) = (A2)^2/(A1)^2 

 or,  4/1 =  (A2)^2/(A1)^2 

or,  A2/A1 = 2
