To Find :- Value of a ?

Solution :-

comparing the given quadratic equation with ax² + bx + c = 0 , we get,

  • a = a
  • b = b
  • c = (-3)

let us assume that, roots of given quadratic equation are p and q .

so,

→ p = 1/q { roots are reciprocal of each other. }

→ p * q = (1/q) * q = 1 ------ Eqn.(1)

now,

→ product of roots = c/a

→ p * q = (-3)/a

from Eqn.(1) ,

→ 1 = (-3)/a

→ a = (-3) (Ans.)

Hence, value of a is equal to (-3) .

Note :- when the roots of quadratic equation ax² + bx + c = 0 are reciprocal of each other :-

  • a = c .
