To find the value of p

Comparing with the form ax² + bx + c

a = 1; b = p; c = 16

For equal roots

Discriminant, D = 0

=> b² - 4ac = 0

=> (p)² - 4 (1) (16) = 0

=> p² - 64 = 0

=> p² = 64

=> p = √64

=> p = 8
