X^2+6x+5=0

X^2+5x+1x+5=0

x(x+5)+1(x+5)=0

(x+5)(x+1)=0

x+5=0 & x+1=0

x=-5 & x=-1

x=-5,-1

since, roots of the equations are -5 & -1

hence, a=-5 & b=-1

since , a+b = -5+(-1)

= -6
